Bass Traps
Bass traps solve the problem standard panels cannot: low-frequency buildup in corners and along walls. This collection covers our 4-inch bass trap panels, 4-inch large-format bass traps, and corner bass traps, all built for broadband, low-frequency absorption rather than a single lab number. If a room sounds boomy, muddy, or has a note that seems to hum louder than the rest, this is the fix.
Why no NRC number here
NRC is a mid-frequency average, and it does not describe how a panel performs in the low end where bass traps do their work. Rather than publish a number that does not tell the real story, we describe bass trap performance by frequency reach: broadband absorption with depth that a 1 or 2 inch panel cannot match. For NRC-rated wall panels, see our 1-inch or 2-inch collections.
How to choose within this collection
- Corner bass traps are built 13 inches deep and priced by the pair, purpose-built for room corners where low-frequency energy piles up. Start here if bass is the main complaint.
- 4-inch bass trap panels mount flat like a standard panel but at 4 inches of depth, for broader low-frequency coverage across a wall rather than just the corners.
- Large-format 4-inch bass traps (up to 4x8) cover more wall per panel. Any dimension over 48 inches ships freight, dock to dock, and the benefit is easier install with less labor cost, not a lower price per square foot.
- Fabric and core: Burch Fabrics Prime Time over a high-density fiberglass core, never foam, same build quality as our standard panels.
When a different collection is the better fit
If the room's real problem is speech clarity, office chatter, or general echo rather than bass, bass traps alone will not fix it. Start with 2-inch panels (NRC 1.0) or 1-inch panels (NRC 0.80) on the walls, then add bass traps to the corners for a complete treatment.
Common questions
What NRC do bass traps have?
We do not publish one. NRC does not capture low-frequency performance, and bass traps are rated by broadband reach, not a single number.
Corner trap or flat 4-inch panel?
Corners first for a room with a real bass problem. Flat 4-inch panels for broader wall coverage once the corners are handled.
Are these foam?
No. High-density fiberglass core wrapped in fabric, never foam.
Do bass traps replace wall panels?
No, they solve a different problem. Most rooms use both: standard panels for echo and speech clarity, bass traps for low-frequency buildup.
What about a home studio or podcast room?
Our recording studio bundle pairs bass traps with wall panels in one order.
